A newly installed sculpture on the corner of Congdon Street in Swanbourne Village demonstrates how vacant land can be made to look attractive while waiting for a project to start.
Max Ball, sculptor, has created a free form design of leaves to enhance the corner site. Despite the fluid appearance of the leaves, closer investigation shows them to be of sturdy solid steel, with many different coatings to reflect the subtle play of light during the day.
Embracing natural elements fits well with the planned residential designs for the Swanbourne Village Trust residences to be created on this site. The open and airy sculpture heralds the vision of gardens and water features to be threaded through the buildings.
